While gently crashing waves and swaying coconut palms are an expected background for a Maui vacation, the best way to experience the Valley Isle is to simply discover her and we invite you to do just that. You may be familiar with the island’s famous sweet treat, Maui gold pineapples, but you probably haven’t seen the rolling hills of the thriving pineapple fields via horseback.
Tucked in the lush West Maui Mountains, Ironwood Ranch is offering a unique way to experience the island. With a string of Hawaii horseback riding tours, saddle up and explore the tropical mountainside like a regular paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy)! Whether you are a beginner or a more experienced rider, you will have the opportunity to ride over pineapple fields, valley greenery, and ironwood forests. All you have to do is choose the perfect ride for you!
West Maui Journey
Travel through valleys rich in Hawaiian history and ancient home sites of West Maui with an experienced tour guide! Rides are hosted every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturdays at a variety of times. And while the route varies with conditions, this tour is recommended for all riding levels.
The Sunset Ride
There is nothing more beautiful than a Maui sunset and while there are a number of ways to watch the blue sky fade to pastel hues (like from your oceanfront vacation rental), we feel that one of the best ways is on horseback. Learn about Napili’s history while on a 1.5 hour guided tour and watch as the Hawaiian sun dips below the horizon. This tour is available every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 4 pm and is recommended for all riding levels
The Hawaiian Excursion
Start your morning in paradise with a 2-hour ride and explore the rich valleys atop a beautiful horse. You will learn about the area’s history as you leisurely ride through the island countryside. This tour is hosted every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturdays at 8:30 am.
These are just a few of the many Maui horseback riding tours available through Ironwood Ranch. For each tour, keiki (children) need to be at least 7 years of age and 4 feet or taller. All riders must weigh no more than 220 pounds and are required to sign a release waiver prior to the tour.
And if you rather stroll through the property, the ranch also has a new eco-guided hiking tour that takes you through the West Maui Mountains area of Kaopala and Mailepai.
Here at Kahana Village, we are excited to ring in the New Year with you as part of our ohana! Haven’t booked online yet? We have a number of 2 and 3 bedroom condos for rent still available!
